Today I had the joy of video-recording a conversation with another longtime friend who has deeply influenced and supported my awakening for the past 20 years. Raven operates deeply from Truth (rather than from an egoic identity) and discusses this in this video. You can find Raven at the Salt Spring Centre of Yoga (definitely worth the visit there too!) where he is the head of the kitchen, or here.

Thank you Raven for this visit – and for your true unconditional support, which has always meant supporting the truth – and not enabling the false ;). You should know that during those years (over a decade ago now!!) when you could see through the story I was trying so hard to uphold, I was able (willing) to hear you as you gently called my bluff (which of course, my ego didn’t want to hear, as egos don’t!) because of my deep respect for you and for what shines so clearly from your words, your ways and the fullness of your knowing (and not knowing) silence.
To those reading/listening – we will be having another meeting like this soon – and if you have a question to bring forth, please email it to me at theawakeningheart@laurapshaw.com Your questions – wherever you think you are ‘at’ would make our day and bring such important diversity and presence to the mix. It is both of our deep joy to hold your questions, turn them upside-down, play with them, and respond from awareness.
Peace xo
Hello friends…
Here’s a great thing from Gangaji which can help us in our discourse. Awakening isn’t what we think it is. 🙂

Thanks Raven – yes yes! Love this reminder – this constant reminder, to drop what we think we know, or what we think we might have glimpsed, or be ‘onto’- and experiencing what is left when all concepts fall away.
Peace, L.
Hello friends…
In section 3, Laura asks a juicy question… “are you aware of who you are, all the time?”
It’s a tough question because of what the word “you” typically implies, and the imposition of time my response was fraught with struggle…. here’s what I wish I had said:
Nobody has ever been aware of who they are. Jesus was not aware of who he was, nor Buddha, nor Anandamayi-ma. Rather, awareness wakes up FROM those bodies…. there is a seeing, a ‘knowing’ that what I am is the alert space which holds it all. Now then the question might morph to be, “well, do you see that all the time?” And a most correct response is, “it is not about seeing it ‘all the time,’ but rather about seeing it NOW.” Are we seeing it now?
Truly: do I see it now?… that is the only thing that matters, and that’s a living inquiry which births its own fresh, loving actions.

Beautiful Raven!! Brilliant – yes, the mind thinks of things in terms of ‘all the time’ ‘always’ ‘never’ – there is this timeline that is believed to be the thread that holds existence together…. this is so clearly a mental construct that is believed until it is seen…. and I love what you said “Truly: do I see it now? … that is the only thing that matters, and that’s a living inquiry which births its own fresh, loving actions.” Ahhhhhhhh!!!! glorious – thank you.
No, you’re brilliant! Seriously. Today’s post is beautiful.
